Are all the family interested in taking part in the care of the animal? It takes a lot of time, patience and expense for any pet to settle into a home.

Is there a family member home during the day? It is the RSPCA's Policy not to leave an animal for more than four hours maximum.

Is your garden or yard secure? We don't want the little devil coming back to us!

PETS CAN BE EXPENSIVE

Dogs and cats need a full course of vaccinations. They also need them updating at your local vets annually. A lot of our animals at Halewood are neutered, if they are not you will be given a voucher towards the cost. This is extremely important as we see enough unwanted puppies and kittens!

Animals also need regular worming and flea treatment. This should take place every 3-6 months. We see animals in appalling conditions on a daily basis as a result of people forgetting that one essential dose.

Last but not least a balanced diet. Feeding a pet can be very expensive especially young animals as they need extra nutrients.

Here at Halewood we have training classes every Wednesday and they are included in your adoption price. Even if your animal is not from our centre we are willing to help you out with those troublesome K-9's for a small fee. But remember we do a home visit before any animal goes home to check the premises are secure.

So come and visit our centre we have aproximately 40 cats and 110 dogs on site looking for that special place in your heart.
