We are delighted to report that, with the help of the National Society, the Branch is able to commence on the construction of a new 32 kennel block complete with a veterinary suite. This will enable animals to be neutered on site and to be seen by our veterinary surgeon from the RSPCA Salford Clinic in a modern well equipped facility. We are to demolish the ancient quarantine block which is long past its sell by date and we hope in the future, if funds permit, to tackle other blocks which regular visitors will know are showing age. The cost of the new project is approximately £600,000 to which the Branch is contributing over £200,000 from our reserves, most of which has come from donations and legacies. The new kennels have been designed by Design & Planning Services Ltd of Warrington, and the contractor is to be Clovemead Ltd, also of Warrington. It I hoped that the facility will be open and in full operational order by the start of 2011.
