New council charges for claiming stray dogs
From 1st May 2009, Liverpool, Knowsley, Halton and Sefton Councils have ageed common charges for owners claiming stray dogs from the kennels at Halewood. To encourage early claiming a 2 tier charge has been agreed as follows: 1st 48 hours : £35 Over 48 hours : £85 Please note that if your dog is brought to Halewood by the out of hours service contracted to Animal Wardens Ltd, the 48 hour period will start from 9.00 a.m. the next day. To make claiming easier you can pay the claim fee at Halewood, but you must have ID when you call. We no longer accept cheques. Please be aware that after 7 days the law provides for the Branch to retain ownership of the dog for rehoming. If you do not claim your dog within the 7 day period it is possible that we will have rehomed it by the time you visit. We do not pass on details of a new owner.
