These pages will give you information on how you can help at our animal centre at Halewood and how you can be a "Friend of Halewood". They also tell you how you can make a donation to help us run the Centre. It costs over £1300 a day to run Halewood so every little bit helps. We have also given names and addresses of private veterinary practices on Merseyside. Their inclusion here does not mean that the Branch recommends them.

As we get lots of calls about the PDSA we have also listed the PDSA Clinics on Merseyside for information. The PDSA is a seperate Charity from the RSPCA providing veterinary care to pet owners in receipt of certain State Benefits who live in designated post code areas . If you think that you qualify please contact the PDSA direct.

Dog Walking

We get lots of offers from people wanting to help at the Centre. One of the best ways of helping our dogs is to give them regular walks. The Branch is always pleased to receive an offer to be a regular dog walker as it makes such a difference to our dogs – most of whom have been abandoned and are upset and out of their routine. You will need to be over 18 and prepared to go out in all weathers!
Please contact the Centre for a form.

Home Checking

We are also in need of volunteer home checkers to visit prospective new owners in their homes to check on their suitability and security of the house and garden. Mature people with their own transport are most welcome.

Please contact the Centre for a form.

Working in the Centre
We do not normally encourage volunteers to work in the kennels or cattery as we do not have the resources to give full training to a volunteer who has not had previous experience of kennel or cattery work. If you have worked in an animal centre and want to give your time on a regular basis please contact the Centre.
