We get lots of calls from people who have lost their pets . The RSPCA is not legally responsible for stray dogs . That is the job of the local Council . Here on Merseyside we have special arrangements for strays siezed by the dog wardens to be taken to our kennels at Halewood hopefully for re-uniting with their owners!

We receive between 10 and 15 dogs every day and we just can't cope with all the calls we get from distressed dog owners. So if you have lost your dog in Liverpool, Knowsley, Halton or Sefton Council areas then get on down to Halewood as soon as possible. We only have to keep the dog for 7 days before we can rehome it and attractive or breed dogs often get a "reserve" very soon. Please call in person any day except Wednesday, (but phones answered from 9am until 5pm). We are open from 1.00pm to 4.30pm.

To claim your pet you will have to pay a Council fine currently between £60 and £80 which varies between Councils.

We also get asked to take in literally thousands of stray and unwanted cats and kittens each year as well as birds , rabbits and other small domestic animals. We no longer keep small animals/Rabbits or birds. We no longer have facilities for horses nor can we take in reptiles or exotics.
